How to Choose the Top Bloggers you must Socialize with

It is a fact that there are top bloggers who are much superior to us. They have placed themselves in a safe pedestal where we can always look up to. They are the icons of this industry and gained a lot of respect from fellow bloggers. While there is no need to mention names as we already know who they are, it is interesting to know that we can still socialize with them in spite of their high status. Although it will be a great advantage for us to do that, we should still choose them carefully. Here are some important factors that I believe we must consider first.

Hi, quite scaring leaving a comment to your post.

I'm a micro-blogger, few hours time dedicated to blogging, just with genuine socializing approach to other blogs. Furthermore my blog is on food and mainly written in Italian.

Like you I work with numbers being a economist with a strong statistical background, currently working in a hospital.

I've discovered you thanks to the Group Writing Project promoted by Problogger.

Apart time limitation, why not everybody can socialize ?

i agree very much with this post. i have to emphasize though that i believe that a good blogger, notwithstanding her/his status in blogging, has to reciprocate visits and comment no matter what. there will always be a time for everybody. a popular blogger has to remember that he/she became popular because of the others who took time commenting and visiting.

on the other hand, this must be true to every blogger - to take time to socialize. an opinion matters, a bit of thought can inspire and make the day of one blogger.

Hi Rosella,

Thanks to Problogger, we found each other!

Besides lack of time, not everybody can socialize because some of us do not know how.

This sound weird to others, but it is true for me. I met a lot of people (including non-bloggers) who do not even know how to start a conversation properly. They cannot stand out in a crowd and there are loners too.

By the way, what's scary about leaving comments on blogs? It is a healthy habit especially if you want to socialize with others.

I like your blog though but it makes me hungry!

Regards!

Came in via Problogger.

I wish you had provided a story - you didn't have to mention any names - explaining how it is someone might be tempted by a not-so-good blogger to socialize with.

There are some bloggers who get enormous traffic because they're mean. Is there a way of achieving popularity through them? Is that way too much of a risk?

Great points, Angel. :)

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Busy both at home and at work (there was a virus that kept going around at home).

I sometimes get so tired of trying to socialize with big name bloggers. I feel like I'm in middle school, trying to fit in with the cool kids.

Good post though. I like your emphasis on learning from them.

u have explained some very useful points. As you mentioned, I also try to interact with great bloggers with the main purpose of learning something from their vast experience.

Bingskee - Socializing is everything for a blogger. Otherwise he will not get noticed.

However, I have to disagree with you when you said "to reciprocate visits and comment no matter what".

We must not also abuse the power of leaving comments to other blogs. This is not a part of socializing but an obvious self-promotion.

Ashok - Joining the crowd of mean bloggers will get you popular too, but I strongly discourage this.

We must remember that blogging is not about getting traffic and yes it very risky! Success is very temporary.

Meghna - Glad to see you here again, my little friend!

I think you are doing great in socializing as you can invite tons of comments on your posts.

I saw your comment at Copyblogger and I must say, it was very valuable.

Keep it up, young lady!

sometimes, in our busy schedule apart from the fact that we only blog part-time, we no longer leave comments. or just silently agree or disagree to a post.

would a regular entrecard drop considered as socialization?

although it may be one way traffic with the popular blogger his other followers might start noticing you. for example if you replied to one of his or her tweets and he or she replied back other will take notice and might start following you.

Hi, great post and I found you via ProBlogger. I am in the process of widening my online network myself and I have found the best way to achieve this is to give, give, give! I hope this will be reciprocated to form a strong network of trusted contacts in the future.

Hi there, I'm here via Problogger and twitter. I very much enjoyed your article, though I don't completely agree with your total premise. Good luck to you and thanks for offering your valuable opinion

I would think a socializing blogger and good blogger would be one and the same. I mean, isn't the basic point to blogging to be social? The more interactive a blogger is with me, the more likely I am to visit them again and again.

Ceblogger - Unfortunately, I cannot consider regular EC dropping as part of socializing since droppers are really not after the blog content, nor to meet the blogger but to earn points. That is why we as members cannot avoid high bounce rate.

However, if a member spends time to leave a quality comment then it is socializing.

Deb - I wish you can be more specific about the aspect you do not completely agree.

Exchanging ideas is great. Sometimes just seeing another perspective will spark an idea that will prove to be highly beneficial.

It never hurt to socialize and interact with other bloggers. We learn from others as they also learn from us. Thanks for the post. God bless.
