How to avoid burying your Blog

Success in blogging requires a lot of patience, time and effort. There are even times that you should spend money just to keep your blog alive. However, some bloggers commit mistakes unconsciously that make their blog deteriorate until it dies unnaturally. The worst thing is that the blogger is not even aware about it. With him barely noticing it, his subscribers are gradually withdrawing and traffic becomes static. To have an idea, here are some situations you must avoid.

Posting irregularly

There are times when we are busy with other things, and posting will not be our priority. While you cannot avoid it, your blog status might suffer the consequences. To save your blog, you can invite guest bloggers to post for you. However, you must be sure they can help your blog while you are away. If you cannot find one, be courteous to your readers by informing them about your temporary absence and when they can expect you to return.

Hi,

Thanks for adding me to your blogroll and finding my blog interesting.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reminder. Time seems to get away so quickly and there are so many things to try to keep your blog "out there" ...one sometimes forgets to actually post!

You are welcome, Waterrose. Actually, these are two things that are hard to balance; posting and promoting. But I choose posting more than the latter.

This is because I believe that no matter how good you are in promoting your blog, your visitor may not come back again if they feel your posts are not updated.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Hi Giamatti,

Just like you, my posts are usually every other day but sometimes I can do it everyday.

I remember the farthest gap is 5 days because I was hospitalized and I hate that.

Thanks for dropping by.

For our blog, I struggle with the off-topic posts because it's essentially a niche-less blog, covering a gamut of personal interest topics. Not having a well-defined or very specific niche may be something of a detriment for us.

One thing that's a sure-fire quick turn-off for me is when a blogger simply rehash another blogger or news site's content without even any attempt to put a personalized slant or alternative spin on the info being presented. There's nothing wrong, for example, with reporting on some C|Net tidbit, but make sure that your blog article has a unique perspective or fresh take on the info. Otherwise, I'm be better off simply going to the original source.

Well said, Rob. I agree with 100%. I saw a lot of them, trying to hurry to get to top by using great news but they don't know how to deliver it.

I don't know where you found my blog because your blogs do not have widgets.

But hey, I love them and the way you share your thoughts.

Anyway, I am inviting you view my other blog (Happy Family Matters) and you'll find interesting topics about family.

You can click the widget on my sidebar and it will lead you there.

Thanks for dropping by.

Wow, looking back at that comment I left before, my grammar was horrible! Sheesh, how embarrassing!

Guardian, I think I clicked on your name from a Problogger comment to land on your site - which is something I do quite often when reading others' blogs.

My blog is not intended as a for-profit venture, so I've tried to avoid distracting ads or monetization gadgets. I chose my single-column layout for that very reason - to keep the content front & center.

Hi Rob,

I am surprised to see you again here. I didn't expect it would be that fast.

Problogger has been my inspiration since I started.

Well, for a non-profit blogs like yours, it's really amazing.

By the way, I prefer you call me Angel. It's my real nickname.

Thanks.
