Farewell Entrecard but Hello to my Blogger Friends

The time has come for me to make my last post as an Entrecard member. As I have mentioned in my last post - I will be leaving Entrecard soon.

I will be removing my widget here 24 hours after I submitted this post. But just as I promised, I collected some members and subscribe to them. This is because I consider them as my blogger friends, not just because they have been kind to me but also of their good contents.

So with no further ado, here they are.

If you think I missed someone here but you think you deserve my subscription, you can reply here with the link to your homepage and I will check it out. I won’t mind having tons of mails as long as they have quality content and interesting topics. But then again, I am not offering a subscriber exchange.

But of course, I will be glad if you will also subscribe to me. However, I strongly suggest that you do it Father Blogger dot Com since it is my main blog.

With this, I would like to thank all the members who have supported me here all the way, especially those who subscribe to me lately. I may not remember all of youi, but I will still recognize you if our paths will cross again somewhere else within the blogosphere.

My gratitude also goes to those replied to my message, and still showed some support even after I declined their ads.

By the way, the widget on my other blog - Happy Family Matters is still alive maybe until 2 weeks after my ads will be posted. But definitely, I will not be accepting any more ads.

Good luck, Entrecarders!

I will be leaving Entrecard soon

Yes, folks! I will be leaving Entrecard in a week time, or right after my ads will be posted as well as my pending advertisers. By the way, this is also the reason why I am now declining ads. Finally, I have made my decision after thinking about it for about 2 weeks ago. Actually, I started thinking about it around 2 months ago when I started my WP blog. If you will notice, I did not enroll it there. But what made me turned cold about Entrecard? How does the economy of Entrecard affect my decision?

I have been a member of Entecard since December of last year, and I must admit that I met a lot of good bloggers around in which most of them became my on-line buddies and friends. I also earned a few bucks (well, not that really few) from selling my points. Not to mention the contests I joined and won and without Entrecard, I may not be able to discover them. The best prize I won was a good interview by a fellow blogger who now I consider among my lifetime blogger friend.

With all of these, why will I still leave Entrecard? Well, besides I am very busy with other promotional techniques like joining forums, I am not seeing it anymore just like I used to. Please do not get me wrong, I know Graham and his associates are doing their best to keep Entrecard alive and I admire them for that. I cannot blame a single person or two for such kind of situation. Entrecard is a group of bloggers who have different point of views, beliefs and strategies.

So, why will I really leave Entrecard? Let’s just say that some good things never last, and I would rather leave than being together but unhappy. But don’t worry; I will not be leaving just like that. I am preparing a list of good blogs that I will be subscribing because I still want to read their posts. After all, this is the ultimate dream of Graham – to allow bloggers to read each others posts.

I will be posting the list within two to four days, so I hope you watch for it. Meanwhile, you may want to check out my main blog - Father Blogger dot Com. I will be glad if you will subscribe to it, as I will be posting there regularly and re-direct most of my upcoming posts there. Just inform me if you did. Who knows? I might also be subscribing to you.

Just to make myself clear, I am not requesting for a subscriber exchange as I will subscribe to anyone I like even if they will decide not to do the same.

In addition, I am not encouraging you nor discouraging you to stay. This is my personal decision and no one bribed or convinced me, as I believe that we should always follow our heart.

With this, I would like to end by saying “Thank you, Entrecard! You made my blogging experience colorful”.

A Good Effect of being a Patient Blogger

Patience is a virtue, my friend. This is a common saying to remind us that we should be patient in any goal that we want to reach. In blogging, patience is being tested daily while we are waiting for someone to drop by and leave a good comment. Promoting a blog does not necessarily mean it can always be effective and worst, earning good money out of blogging. So what am I driving at? Here is a classic sample of having a long patience and the great reward I got by having such.

Last May this year which means four months ago, I joined a contest and the exciting part is winners can choose the prize they want to win. There were reasonable cash prizes, tutorials and an interview. I choose the interview because I thought it would be a great way to let others to know more about me through a post on other’s blog. To make the long story short, I won and I was very happy to accept the prize. But my patience was tested.

When to say that Content is King

Content is king! I think this phrase has been overused and if you Google it now, it will give you 22,700 results. But when does a particular content becomes great, or king for that matter? What factors constitute the crown to be on its throne? Darren Rowse of Problogger recently asked his readers this question – How do you define Great Content? Since I am one of them, here are my thoughts.

For me, content is king when the following characteristics are present.

It is powerful

The word of a king is very powerful that every thing he says is a law. A great content can convince readers that the post is true by adding facts and data needed to support the content. It also uses simple but attractive words that can magnetize even the ones who seem not to be interested in it. Although it seem to be the strongest of them all, humility is still present and with a pleasant image.

It is invincible

Although it may have some opposition or distraction, the post seems not to be affected. Just like a wounded warrior, it even becomes stronger. It is being shielded by a deep research before it was published. Gladiators must pass through many training before the fight, and this can be compared to a well-written post wherein it was rigidly checked for misspelling and grammatical errors. It has a strong armor against any force such as plagiarism and spamming.

It gains a lot of respect

A great leader must portray a role model. A great content guides the readers and provides useful information. It is easy to understand that makes it friendly to the readers. Thus, it receives a lot of real praises from commentators, and not for the sole purpose of agreeing on it. Although it may receive some negative feedbacks, the respect remains intact and the admiration is still alive. Ageless posts are not being easily forgotten and in fact, readers will bookmark them for future reference.

It can rule a kingdom

A king cannot be called a king if he has no kingdom. A great content can capture the pages of social sites such as Digg. It can drive a lot of quality traffic without buying them; and it can also invite a lot of subscribers and regular followers. It was also written with a little application of SEO wherein keywords are carefully chosen and placed accordingly to be available for humans and search engines simultaneously.

A great king does not try to be perfect for himself, and this is what makes him great.

So if you were to be asked the same question, what are your thoughts?

Computer Vision Syndrome – a serious Eye Problem of Bloggers

Blogging is fun and sometimes, addictive. Let us admit it; we tend to abuse our selves especially our eyes. Unfortunately, blogging for two hours or more can cause Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). This may affect our mental and physical abilities that may lessen our productivity. Although some of you may have heard of this before, it is good to be reminded again. Welcome to Father Blogger

Logo from Angel Cuala

Hi everyone,

I am excited to announce that finally, my third blog is now live. Actually, I started this a month ago but I had some technical problems but now I am happy that it is over. Anyway, the blog title is Father Blogger which has the same URL and I decided to have a paid hosting service with Wordpress as the platform. I remember one time; I already mention this to you when I wrote that a part of being a professional blogger is to have your own domain. I must say that this is my most precious blog.

Why it is very precious to me

Well, it is my dream to combine my craft as a father and as a blogger. As I mentioned in the welcome post, , this is quite confusing for my readers but at the same time, I will be hitting two birds in one stone. I have a very big plan for this blog but I want to do it slowly but surely. In fact, I am now starting to use this when I leave comments on other blogs as well as to forums I am an active member. I will also be doing some hardcore promotions and will read articles about SEO and try to apply whatever I will learn. I will consider this blog my baby.

What readers can expect

As I am trying to do with my existing blogs, I will submit fresh quality posts as well as re-writing my old posts. That is why you may notice that some of my older posts have been re-directed to my new blog, and I will also choose some future posts that will lead my readers there. In addition, I will do my best to submit a post everyday like what I am doing now. I will also submit posts that will not be posted in both of my blogs and that will be something to look forward. But of course, the topics will still be the same – Marriage, Parenting and Blogging.

Will I be leaving blogspot?

Blogspot is my first home and will remain my home unless Google will drive me away. Although others might say a lot of disadvantages over a free hosting service, it is still a peaceful place for me. I have now worries about technical stuff since it is very easy to handle, just copy and paste – Presto! Besides, I am already enjoying a small space in the blogosphere and I do not want to loose it and start all over again. For almost a year of blogging, I can say that blogspot is still the best free place in town.

Will I be leaving Entrecard?

Tough question! I must admit, I am receiving very high bounce rate for both of my blogs because of the drop-and-go bloggers. However, I cannot deny the fact that most of my regular readers and commenters are coming from Entrecard, as well as my now on-line friends. With this, I have decided NOT to leave Entrecard for now, and may stay quite longer. Anyway, I learned that Graham is doing his best to improve the service and to let his dream come true – a place for bloggers to have a community who visits and reads blog posts. But then, Father Blogger will not be a member of Entrecard.

My invitation

After all that has been said, I am now inviting you to visit my new blog – Father Blogger dot Com. You can browse my more revealing About page if you want to know more about me, as well to the posts that you may not yet read. I also would like to ask for some suggestions to improve it more such as Plug-ins, interesting themes and other Wordpress techniques. Please feel free to leave your comments there.

But of course, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Raden of My SEO Blog and Manilenya. Without them, I will be lost in my new venture and may be going crazy before I can launch it.

Lastly, I am now proud to introduce to you my real name – Angel Cuala. I will be using this on my new blog from now on.

See you there!

Notification of Limited Account Access - A Fake Warning E-mail Message to all Paypal Users

Screenshot by Guardian Angel

I would like to reserve this post to warn all Paypal users. I have been receiving this message for almost a month but when I discovered it is a suspected scam, I just delete it. Upon receiving this again yesterday, I think that it is time to share it to you. I am afraid some bloggers has already been fooled because the scam identity cannot easily be noticed.

Attached here is the screenshot of the message, and you can click it to enlarge. Here are some of the details of the message that you might get carried away if you do not read them carefully.

We are being reminded that our Paypal account might have been hijacked by a third party since they noticed multiple attempts have been done. They want us to verify our account. – I was surprised and thankful for their reminder. Well, almost!

We are being advised to log in to our Paypal account and provide required information on a certain link so that they can further provide us a safer and risk free environment – I was really touched by their immediate assistance. Nice try, sucker!

We are being warned that if we ignore their message, they will have no choice but to suspend our account temporarily. They are requesting that we give them 48 hours to investigate and recommend us not to change any information about our account. – What a very supportive customer service! I do not think so, weirdo!

Now here is the catch!

Did you read the email address when it came from? I did not realize that paypal can also be paypall with a double l and they are both the same? Do you think the wrong spelling is just an honest mistake? Think again, wrong spelling is considered wrong when we are talking about links and email address.

Anyway, to further increase my suspicion, I click the link they provided but it did not went there directly. My browser advised me to be careful in sharing any information because according to them it is a Suspected Web Forgery.

Moral lesson - Check first if the spelling of the email address is correct, before opening it. If you find something suspicious, do not open it and delete it immediately.

To verify your account now, visit Paypal here. You can slap my face if I gave you the false link, and you do not have to thank me if the link is correct. However, I think it is better if you share what you have learned.

By the way, I am a Paypal user and I do not have any problems with them. I think it is still the best outlet for our on line money account. So if you are not, you can check them out here.

How to know if you can be a Professional Blogger someday

I am reading around 20 blogs a day and I notice that some of them are just passers by while some are really dead serious in blogging. I also realize that there are some bloggers who are doing it on a part time basis and some are really professionals. Although I really want to quit my office job and be a professional blogger someday, the big question is can I do it? Am I really on the right path? I found some answers and if we have the same dream, you can check your self using my ideas.

You are investing

Making a blog post does not mean you are investing. You may just want to share your ideas and you have a free time to do it. Investing is not only about money, it is also about time and effort. If you are interested to learn more about blogging and you start to sacrifice sleep and your time to relax, then welcome to the club. You have now a great syndrome of being a professional blogger. This is because some bloggers are contented in what they know and they have achieved. So if you are among them, then stay put as a part time blogger.

You are not getting tired

Blogging is very tiring to the mind and resting after a whole day of office work can be much better instead of thinking of your next post. But if you seem to be more relax when you blog rather than watching your favorite television show, you are now hooked by the spell of blogging. You keep on finding ways to improve your style and you seem not to be running out of ideas. In fact, your succeeding posts are getting better than your previous ones. You are not also afraid of doing some experiments to your blog.

You can attract readers to your blog

Blogging is a two-way street between you and your readers. No matter how much money, time and effort that you spend, they will all be wasted if you do not have the capability to attract readers to your blog. Unless you have the ability to invite visitors and convert them into regular readers, do not quit your job yet and practice more. There are more than a million competitors around you and it takes a lot of socializing before you can win some of their customers. Professional blogging is not just a career, it is a talent.

You are willing to spend

Blogging is a business and you cannot get everything for free. You must also spend somehow in your promotion and even purchasing your own domain. Although you can still earn through free hosting, opportunities are better if you are not using a subdomain. I am not saying that using free hosting is bad because if it is, then I would not be using blogspot anyway. However, search engines and some paid-to-write advertisers prefer bloggers with their own domain. In terms of promotion, the ones who spend will have a wider scope and will be prioritized by services.

Incidentally, I just bought a domain for me and hopefully I can launch it soon. All of you are invited.

How to Reduce the Possibility of Receiving Spam Emails

According to Wikipedia, a spam email is a bulky or junk email being sent to numerous recipients without solicitation. All of us email users are aware of this but spammers are almost everywhere and no matter what we do, we cannot seem to avoid them. However, there are many things we can do to minimize the possibility of receiving them. Here are some of them that are very easy to do.

Ignore them

If you receive emails from unknown sources, simply ignore them. Do not even dare to unsubscribe to them through the link at the end of the message. Note that the purpose of the spammers is to know if our email address is live and they can just change the title and send it again to you. Avoid chain emails talking about religious stuff, Viagra, horoscope and others. Instead of sharing them to others, delete them at once. If you will be receiving them from your friends and relatives, advise them to refrain from doing this.

Avoid free trials

Free trial software is very tempting to try but downloading them is not advisable. Worst is you will be submitting some of your personal information and if you do this, expect more spam emails. Do not even purchase from any unconfirmed products on line. Although they may be legitimate, your personal information may not be safe enough to reveal. Remember, there is really no such thing as free enterprise. If you need to purchase something, search the web and double check its authenticity.

Hide your email address

Do not expose your email address anywhere. If you really have to inform your readers, use the word at instead of the symbol @. This is because most spammers get email addresses through scanning. In your blog, use a contact from wherein your email address cannot be seen. For contests, comments and other not so personal purposes, use a separate email address to protect your primary email address. But the most important thing is to share it to trusted people only.

Finally, protect and educate yourself. Use the tools provided by your email service provider. Read articles about them and educate yourself. There are also a lot of free spam blockers and filters around to help us like Stop Spam Center.

An off-topic piece of advice, do not capitalize the word spam unless you are referring to SPAM canned foods.

This is not a paid post, only a message of concern.

My Last Post to Blogging 101

I would to share my excitement to everybody as I have reached this point in this blog – my 100th post. After I revealed my wildest dreams on my first post six months ago, I realized I have now moved one step forward. I already made a gratitude speech on my Happy Family Matters blog when it reached its century post, so I want to make it different here. I would like to announce my plans on this blog as the continuation of my wildest dreams. Here they are and hopefully, I can reach them through your help.

Interviews

I want to make some interviews with different kinds of bloggers. Since I love communicating with people, I think I can also be a good interviewer. There are some of my favorite bloggers whom I want to meet, not necessarily in person. There are interesting facts about them that I know will serve as inspiration to us, even to non-bloggers. Similarly, I also want to be interviewed and anyone can approach me and let’s discuss the possibility. I am now preparing to be interviewed by Alexys of Soul meets World which I recently won in a blog contest.

Reviews

Although I made some reviews about some bloggers, they are the ones I consider my virtual friends and mentors. I am now starting to make some blog and product reviews to monetize this blog but I carefully choose them to avoid harm in my blog. Anyway, I am also planning to make reviews about useful blogs for free, just like I did for Daily Writing Tips and Blogsvine. Of course, I would also like this blog to be reviewed. It can be a paid service, but of course I would prefer someone who already knows me here to make a review about me.

Guest posts

I made three guest posts at bloggingtips.com and I know the feeling of being allowed to make a guest post on other blogs especially if the blog is popular. It did not only help me with my traffic but also increased by self-confidence that I can write good posts. My blog may be far from being among the top blogs, but I am inviting everyone to be my guest blogger. I have only simple requirements: your topic is about blogging tips and has original content which means it has not yet been posted anywhere even on your own blog. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested.

Adding a forum

This is one of the wildest dreams in my other blog, but I think it would also be nice if I also have one here in this blog. This is because I want different kinds of bloggers to be connected as one, sharing thoughts and experiences as bloggers. Although I know some useful forums around, I would like my forum to concentrate about blogging for the masses. This means that posts should be readily accessible to common bloggers and newbies as well. I really have many things to do first before having a forum, but I will patiently wait.

Be a problogger

I am being advised to have my own domain if I am really serious in blogging. Many also were written about the advantages of not using a free host. And since I am a dead serious blogger, I would love to hear from you some great tips on how and where I can buy my own domain. This is because to be a problogger is my ultimate goal in blogging. I want to get rid of working for someone else while I know I can work for my own. I want to be with my family everyday while working for them. This is not an easy decision but I am now working hard to be one.

Is my English Good-looking Over There?

I really want to blog but I am afraid because I cannot speak and write good English. So, what I did is I read many blogs as many as I can, everyday. They say that if I read and read I will also be able to write good English later on.

But I noticed on some blogs I read, they are also find it difficult to write in English. But when I check their number of readers, they have small numbers of subscribers even if their blog is already old. Then I read their posts one by one and I found them very enjoyable to read. Some are also very useful, too.

So, meaning I can also blog even if my English is not good-looking over there. So I become happy. But I discovered some problems. My articles are not being allowed by paid to write sites and also by some bloggers where I want to be guest blogger. This mean that I cannot make my traffic a lot and my source of income is very limited. Sometimes, I also feel as if nobody’s reading them anymore at all.

Now I learned my lesson very well. Even if I cannot write very good English I can still make a blog. But however, I still have to improve my English because I want to earn more money and I also want to have many visitors in my blog. I also understand that I should not be ashamed if I am not that good in English because I am sure many will help me here.

Seriously speaking, I made this post to let everybody know that it is hard to make a good post if you are not fluent in English. I am also not insulting anyone here because I know I still have plenty of improvements to do with my writing.

So if you think you have to improve your English, there are some sites that can help you. I personally read posts from Daily Writing Tips and visit their forum. Sometimes, I also ask Dr. Grammar.

This is not a paid post.

When Blogging can be an Honorable Career

Blogging is a freedom of expression, and anyone may blog about anything they like. In fact, it is now one of the best careers of today according to Yahoo Education. Unfortunately, scams and harassment are all over the blogosphere and still rising fast. These bad eggs must be stopped before we eat us alive. However, I still believe that it can be a decent career. I still see many of them who I can consider honorable, and here are some of the reasons why.

Trust

It is very difficult to earn trust when you are blogging because most of us here are totally strangers to each other and even oceans apart. It is easy to make a pirated post, but once you loose trust from your readers it will be the end of the world for your blog. Similarly, it is also hard to trust someone you do not know, so much so if you cannot meet him in person. Money is one of the major reasons why we blog but on-line business transactions are based only in trust and word of honor. Would you trust your hard-earn money to strangers?

Patience

Bloggers are one of the most patient workers in the world. A good blogger usually spends long hours before completing a post, not to mention the research he has made just to satisfy his readers. Reaching the targeted audience is much harder while maintenance is pure hard work. Blogging is not an easy task like some expects wannabe are telling us. Making good money consistently through easy blogging is a false tip. It is all about finding the right strategy and giving what the readers like to see. Are you patient enough?

Creativity

There are millions and millions of blogs around the world but how many of them are original and how many of them are just practicing plagiarism? When we say originality in blogging, this includes the style and how it attracts the audience. For me, blogging is a science of sharing facts and all of us are making experiments out of what we read. It is the creativity that makes the difference among us. I believe all of us are born artists. Artists live forever and that is what makes them honorable.

Sincerity

Are you blogging with your heart, or are you just using your common sense? Although the latter can be effective, it is our passion that can make us honorable. A blog topic does not have to be serious, it can also be fun. But it will be different if sincerity is not applied. Readers are very sensitive, they like sincere bloggers. You may pass the criteria of the search engines, but it is hard to win the heart of the readers. Language is just a bridge, but the sense of every word is truly that counts. Use you mind, but follow your heart.

Responsibility

Anyone who knows how to use a PC can make a blog, and that’s the hurting truth. While there are formal rules to make a decent blog, they are not enough to control everybody. Any crazy blogger can easily make a disturbing post. It is sad that some of us tolerate them and even support them. Although they can be penalized or banned later on, we cannot erase the damage and the bad influence it brought to the reading public, especially to child bloggers. Blog like everyone is watching. After all this is what we want.

Blogging is not magic; it is all about character.

Ten Reasons why I Blog

Too Much Blogging = Tumor

I found this tag on one of my virtual friend bloggers, a 12-year old Indian blogger by the name of Meghnak. Although she did not tag me, I feel that my readers will find it interesting to know why I am blogging. So here they are.

1.0 I really love communicating with others through speaking, as well as through writing.

2.0 I love sharing of information. It widens my knowledge and keeps me updated on many things.

3.0 Sharing blogging tips is something I am not getting tired of. It feels great when bloggers are doing good because of my tips.

4.0 I want to be remembered as a person who tries to contribute to make our world a better place to live in. I also have a blog about how to have a happy family and I feel it is my advocacy. This is because I know how hard it is to have none. I am a product of a broken family.

5.0 It increases by confidence when a stranger especially from other countries, visits my blogs and even posts comments.

6.0 It is very rewarding for me to know that someone is learning from me, somehow.

7.0 I want my children to learn the Internet as young as they can. It is expensive to enroll a child in a school where using computer is a part of their curriculum.

8.0 Internet has been my fear before I started blogging and I learned how to use e-mail just 8 years ago. . We had no actual contact to computers when I was in college. It is funny, but I am an Electronic and Communications Engineer. Now I enjoy facing my fears.

9.0 I have been working for different companies for 15 years but it is only now that I feel so passionate on what I am doing.

10.0 I am planning to be a full-time blogger and I am working very hard to be one some time soon.

There it goes, so what about you? Why do you blog?

I am not tagging anyone but you can do the same on your blog or share your thoughts with me.

Z Solutions Inc. – Not An Entrecard!

While I am busy dropping off cards, I saw this Z Solutions Inc. widget on some blogs and because it has a logo of Entrecard with Drop on it, I dropped a card. To my surprise, I was brought to a site page entitled Making Money with the one of the Most Simple and Profitable Investment Opportunities: FOREX. The title itself obviously talks about Foreign Exchange and the author is inviting us to contact him through email if we are interested. Although the site owner might thank me for promoting his site for free, he is making a big mistake.

This is because this post is warning all Entrecard members that your site page is NOT an Entrecard member simply because you do not have an Entrecard. You are just using the logo hoping that someone will visit you. In fact, the blogs that have this ad has the legitimate Entrecard somewhere else on the blog. Nice try though. You have fooled me once but I will not allow to you to do that to me again. By the way, I suppose this ad is a member of Project Wonderful.

But I want to clear things. I am not saying that this ad has no legitimate content nor his business is not true. What I am unhappy about is how it is being promoted. Although I believe that a business should have a good strategy to invite customers, I also believe that this site should learn more about etiquette. If you have a good business offer, you do not need to use big names to visit you and confuse them. Your product will sell itself.

For blogs with this widget, I must inform you that you are also confusing your droppers. With this, I may NOT drop on you unless you do not have this confusing ad anymore. I think that is fair enough.

To Graham and Phirate of Entrecard, I know that you are now very busy revising the pricing method for the betterment of all, but please consider this trouble that is causing confusion to us.

To the owner of Z Solutions Inc., please use advertising with courtesy. For me, the way you promote is a direct insult to all Entrecard members. With this, I am appealing to you to modify your ad. I am sure you can find other ways to encourage visitors and if you do, who knows? I might visit you again and be even interested in your offer.

Am I being too harsh? I do not think so. I am just trying to be humane.

I am using Blogger since the start although I find Wordpress quite attractive. This is because I find blogger simpler to use even without deep technical knowledge. However, I am also planning to have my own domain later because I think it is really better to have one. But for now, I am making the most of what I have.

Apparently, I found a very interesting post at Entrecard blog. This is actually an interview by Laura to Amanda Fazani of Blogger Buster, who is currently having a blog about blogger.com.

After reading the post, I immediately visited her site and true to her word, she has numerous articles and tips on how to maximize my blog. This includes How to Customize Blogger Templates, Widgets and Add-ons, and attractive templates. She has also very helpful tips if you decide to have a custom domain. In addition, you can also contact her if you encounter problems about blogger templates.

In fact, I have just modified my sidebar in which the names of my Top Commenters can be seen and hopefully, my commenters will be happy. Right now, I am busy reading other articles and will try to apply other useful techniques to attract more readers.

To read the whole post, you can see this special post at Entrecard blog. So If you are a blogger user who wants to learn other concepts on how to maximize your blog and to make it more attractive, I strongly suggest that you check her informative posts at Blogger Buster.

Lastly, I have no qualms in using blogger because I think it is user-friendly and mostly likely, I will be a loyal user for a long time.

I am giving away 2,000ec for the best post of my tips!

This post has been succeeded by a later post to make the make the mechanics and prizes clearer. So, please ignore this post and visit this link instead.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

As gratitude to all Entrecard members and to give new members a chance, I am giving away 2,000ec for the lucky winner who can make the best post out of my tips. The rules are very simple.

1.0 Choose the best tip for you that you can find in My All-Time Favorite Tips, Categories located in my sidebar, or Older Posts. You can also choose any of my articles in my Happy Family Matters blog if you are interested in parenting tips and marriage tips.

2.0 Make the best post out of it in your blog using the same title. I am not particular in the number of sentences or words as along as you tackle all the essential points of your chosen article. It is very important for me that your readers will understand and learn from my tips.

3.0 In addition, you must inform your readers that you joined my contest and include the name of Article Specialist who unselfishly sponsored this contest, with a link to this post and to his Blognetwork.

4.0 After you post your entry, please comment on this post together with the link to your post so I can verify it. Please do not send your entry through email to make it easy for me to count them.

5.0 But why do I need the numbers of the entries? This is because I will be giving away 100ec to each of the non-winners if they reach 30 or more, isn’t it wonderful? However, I am only allowing a single entry for each blogger to be fair with others. This is also to encourage you to make the best post.

This contest will run until April 24, 2008 and I will make a separate post that will inform you that the contest is over. Then I will make another post where I will announce the winner and give away all the prizes. Moreover, I will make a weekly post about the status of this contest including the list of the names of the contestants which means a back link to them.

Lastly, although this is not a must but I will really appreciate it if you drop your card and subscribe from my posts.

With this, I would like to say “Thank you from the bottom of my heart” to Article Specialist for helping me here. Apparently, he is also giving away 100ec unlimitedly if you could make a small post about his Blognetwork.

This means that by joining my contest, you may also receive 100ec from him. So before you join here, I strongly suggest that you visit his Blognetwork and check the sidebar for the details.

SPOTTT – A Fast Growing Free Link Exchange Habit

logo from SPOTTT

As a consistent Entrecard dropper, I noticed there are some blogs who have another 125 x 125 widget but with the word SPOTTT on the lower part. Since I am seeing it almost everywhere, I became curious and check the site through Google Search. To my surprise, it is a free tool for link exchange for everyone.

Being still a new blogger, I read their blog and learned about the history of free link exchange tools. According to an article at Fortune, the original free link exchange site was LinkExchange.com which was found in 1996 and used the banner size ad. However, Microsoft shut it down after nine years although it was very successful. This is because the pop-up banner is getting unpopular due to the rise of text ads by search engines like Google.

Now after 12 years, Philip Kaplan the co-founder of AdBrite thought of reviving the strategy, but this time using a 125 x 125 widget. Last February 12, 2008 if my calendar searches me right, SPOTTT was launched. As of this posting, more than 2,000 websites owners and bloggers have joined including me. My blogs were approved yesterday and you can check out the widget on my sidebar.

Although I still have many questions in my mind, I think there is no harm in giving it a try. Who knows? It may boom more than I can imagine. At least, I can still consider myself as a pioneer member. Apparently, Philip Kaplan the owner himself just made a separate post asking for suggestions for improvement in which I plan to submit some, especially regarding to tracking of impressions.

If you are interested, simply visit their site and let us cross our fingers for the benefit of all. I will be closely monitoring the effect on my blogs and find time to update you.

Thank you.
